Food Art Activism
Phully Rooted invites us all to consider this land we call home–its stories and ways; and our connections with the plants, farmers, farmworkers and other workers who provide our food.
We acknowledge that we as a community have not done enough to embrace our Indigenous neighbors, their territories, their cultures, or their efforts regarding sustainability and food sovereignty.
Food Sovereignty is at the heart of our hopes for what Phully Rooted can seed and support among us and is defined as “the right of peoples to healthy and culturally appropriate food produced through ecologically sound and sustainable methods, and their right to define their own food and agriculture systems.” Food sovereignty invites us to consider, beyond our own relationships with the land and food providers, the Indigenous peoples and landless workers among us who are most impacted by global hunger and poverty.
